    Chuck Borek, Founder

    Meet Our Founder

Charles A. (“Chuck”) Borek has been a leader in the field of professional education since 2011, when he formed The Borek Group to meet the training and continuing education needs of attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals. Chuck has developed and presented over 1,000 seminars, webinars, lectures, and training sessions in nearly every state and in four different colleges and universities. He has developed course materials and made presentations for the Association of International Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”), the American Law Institute, Fortune 500 companies, “Big Four” accounting firms, the National Constitution Law Center, and many other organizations.

He has written extensively. In addition to course materials, Chuck has published articles in industry and association periodicals, as well as several pieces of legal and tax scholarship published in the Law Reviews of various university law schools.

Chuck received his law degree summa cum laude in 1993 and was awarded an M.B.A. the same year. Within six months of graduation he was recruited to teach a law school course and has continued to teach in various forums ever since, all while continuing to practice law. In law school he was the Editor-in-Chief of Law Review, received several American Jurisprudence Awards, and was selected to receive the University of Baltimore Law Faculty Award for outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service. Over the past 30 years he has practiced in large and small law firms, as well as with a regional CPA firm in the Washington, DC area. Most recently he has practiced law through his own firm and as Of Counsel to other firms in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area

His primary areas of expertise are tax, business entities and transactions, ethics, nonprofit organizations, and Uniform Guidance audits. Chuck gets the most satisfaction from assisting clients in identifying their specific training needs and developing customized courses that meet those needs.

In addition to having a multi-faceted professional background, Chuck’s personal interests are eclectic. He studied religion and philosophy at Mary Washington College (now the University of Mary Washington) and recently renewed his academic interests in those areas by obtaining an M.A., with honors, in theology and the arts from Wesley Theological Seminary. In his spare time, he is currently working on a doctorate at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where his project involves creative writing, art, and Ignatian Spirituality. He frequently travels to Ireland and is a fan of the Irish national sport of hurling, a unique game that contains elements of field hockey, lacrosse, and martial arts. He is also involved with Jesuit missions serving the educational and other needs of children in tribal villages in India. Chuck and his wife have four wonderful children, two beautiful grandchildren, and two bad dogs.
